I have had the opportunity to work with Dr Felicia at Swinburne University in Melbourne. In 2011, she successfully applied for a mentoring role in a comprehensive student centered program I had designed & was ready to implement. Felicia quickly established herself as a very committed member of the mentoring team; her leadership & openness in her role were standout qualities compelling me to invite her to continue with the program for the second year. In its second year, I encouraged Felicia to design & run one of the workshops addressing issues of anxiety in the study. Such was the success of that workshop, that I asked for her assistance in running a new workshop, this time centred on research academics and helping to critique their progress with their projects and develop action plans to achieve valued outcomes. In both, Felicia's approach was highly professional, insightful & invested in the people involved. I was extremely thankful for the contributions she made to both projects. I know Felicia to be a dedicated scholar, justifiably proud to be awarded her PhD scholarship. She is also a very engaging, committed and intelligent person with much to offer to any project or enterprise. Her work is of the highest standard, completed to schedule and is embraced with purpose and passion. I highly recommend her without any reservation.

I have been fortunate to have known Dr Felicia Neo for many years in both a professional and personal manner. During this time, I can personally testify that Dr Felicia has an immaculate work ethic, attention to detail, and drive for being and doing the best she can. With this said, Dr Felicia is also motivated and capable to learn new and difficult information, exemplified by her challenge taking on a neuroscience component in her clinical psychology and neuroscience PhD. She also took on psychiatric diagnostic skills training, which only adds onto her great knowledge of psychiatry and clinical psychology. Dr Felicia’s personal aptitude towards clinical psychology has been shown with her experience with working with those with social anxiety for her PhD. Social anxiety is a condition that I have worked with sufferers of before, and it is a condition that often requires a great deal of counselling skills to connect to such sufferers due to an increased fears of social judgement, and therefore perseverance, which later better allows for a more genuine and open exploration of content. On a personal level, she is an incredibly ethical person and genuinely cares for those she encounters and works with. I have found that Dr Felicia works in life as a generally diplomatic person, always being open to new ideas and suggestions of others and thinking about prioritised things herself in careful detail. When placed with her work ethic and drive for doing the best she can, I have little concern in pledging my full support that she would suit perfectly to a psychologist role and handle herself in the most ethical manner that I have come to expect naturally with her.

I really want to thank Dr Felicia for the great help that I received. I have started to get a better sense of control and direction. And I know that I am more confident and self-assured because I received a particular grade back for an assignment and although it was not what I had aimed for, I was not as anxious. Additionally, I did a lot better for the formatting of my reports and this was all thanks to her help and advice too. I hope that one day I will be able to provide another person in need, the same level of advice and help that I have received. I have told Dr Felicia that I know I may never be able to repay what she has done for me but I hope that I can someday.

Dr Felicia has been very caring and sensitive, and I have been very blessed to have her as my therapist. I initially sought therapy to cope with insomnia which she was very knowledgeable about and was able to effectively help me find ways to improve my sleep. She has been genuinely supportive and goes out of her way to offer useful advice even over email during my trips overseas which helped me to develop a sense of safety and trust in her. Eventually we began to work through more personal issues including childhood trauma and sexual abuse. I am thankful that I was able to process these scary childhood events under the guidance of Dr Felicia who was always patient and encouraging as I struggled through low self-esteem and shame. I found the therapeutic space to be safe and non-judgmental and her gentleness allowed me to open up and find comfort in understanding these experiences and ultimately work towards being at peace with them. Our strong therapist-patient relationship allowed her to effectively guide me through my trauma and insecurities using techniques such as cognitive behavioral therapy and schema therapy. I am immensely grateful to Dr Felicia for making such a big impact in this season of my life. Thanks to her I feel emotionally stronger and more equipped to handle the many challenges that will come my way.

I had the unexpected benefit of knowing Dr Neo for over a year after being recommended to her by a close friend.  Although I was initially mildly skeptical of psychologists, Dr Neo possesses a deeply reassuring countenance and persuasive bedside manner which comes from her wealth of credentials and experience despite her fairly youthful appearance. After listening to me, Dr Neo recommended perspectives and approaches which were tailored to me. When I tried following most of her advice, I found the results to be very personally empowering. I found that I had stumbled across a gem, who was a highly effective and trusted confidant. I really cannot recommend her enough.

Dear Dr Felicia.

I really appreciated your psychological counselling for several months. With your help, it allowed me to accept that my husband is gone. You showed me that I could be angry, that I could be true to my feelings. Every time my thoughts and actions were misunderstood by others, I would be recognized and encouraged by you. You gave me the courage to face life. Occasionally the low mood would come again and again, but I began to have a sense of self-protection, accept it, face it and let it go. I will always remember your words "She believed she could, so she did".

Thanks again for everything. I was freaking out again but you calmly explained things really well and it helped me to understand how to approach it. I also spoke to you about my studies and having you come from a neuroscience background is really helpful. I don't have a science background, so things like lab reports still feel quite foreign to me at this point. Hopefully it'll get a little easier. You're an awesome educator. And I am very thankful.

I just wanted to say thank you for all the support and understanding of what I have been going through for the past 6 months. I managed to get through this difficult time, and I owe a lot of that to your encouragement, patience and belief that I could do it. The book you recommended was a huge help. Thank you again and I wish you all the best in your future. You are definitely in the right profession!! :)

Seeing someone in therapy for your mental health is so important and you really need to find the right fit. I had seen a previous counsellor before which turned out to be a pretty nasty experience for me and I felt that I had to be careful, I didn't want to go backwards. When I came to see Felicia, I had a few things I wanted to work on and she knew right away. Throughout my sessions, she always checked in with me, there was this mutual respect and understanding. I have been through a lot in my life, a lot that I have not yet processed and still carry with me, abuse of many kinds, trauma and broken relationships and trust. She always knew what to do, how deep to go but never to let me fall. I feel safe. That is so important. Sometimes, you don't really know how broken you are until you see how many pieces you have to fix. With Felicia, I feel that I can slowly rebuild again.

Dr Felicia Neo has an excellent memory and pays close attention to what I say. She never hesitates to make me feel super comfortable during the session. She is positive and one thing she said that really struck me was “you are worth so much”. She gives great advice. I like how there’s always something to work on after the session so there’s continuity and flow to the sessions. While we have always focused on the most critical issue related to my breakup, I hope to broaden our discussion into related areas like childhood and other relationships to gain better perspective.
